REGULAR MEETING

PALMER TOWNSHIP

MARCH 8, 2021


The regular meeting of the Palmer Township Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. at the Palmer Township Hall, with Supervisors Ganz, Demeules and Larson present. Also present was Kelly McCann, and Amy Bragelman Kelly’s predecessor for Township Clerk. Roger Johnson, Treasurer was in attendance via zoom, and David Meyers, Township Attorney was not in attendance. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.


Treasurer’s Report: Roger Johnson read the balances from the Treasurer's report. Supervisor Demeules made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Supervisor Larson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.


Sheriff’s Report: Captain Oches read the Sheriff’s report for the month of February in Palmer Township.

There were 74 calls for service as compared to 54 in 2020 and 68 in 2019. There were 6 traffic stops, 2 offenses charged by citation and two crashes with property damage. There were 2 burglaries, no crashes with injury, no thefts, no calls for ATV/Boat/Snowmobiles, no shooting calls, no DUI’s, no parking violations and no property damage. There were no further questions.


Road Maintenance/Signs: Chairman Ganz stated that 135th needs patching along with a spot in cedar point. Chairman Ganz will call Sherburne County to inquire about obtaining a turn lane sign on the corner of County Road 6 and 42nd ST. Chairman Ganz also talked to John Herbst regarding plowing issues, they were resolved.


Fire Department: Captain Koren gave the monthly call report for the time period of 2/9/21 –3/8/21 for Palmer Township. There was a total of 13 calls for the Clear Lake Fire Department. 6 of those calls were for Palmer Township, all being medical calls.


P.E.C: Chairman Ganz spoke to Roger Johnson who is currently working on Palmer Clean-up Day with vendors to reserve a date. Tentatively the date is May 22nd. No appliances or electronics will be excepted.


Park Report: Chairman Ganz reported that trees will resume cutting. They are currently not using ski trails due to lack of snow.


Lake Association: The BLCA is currently working on goals for the coming year, and are applying for grants to help with milfoil on Elk lake.

Legal Comments: Nothing to Report


Approval of Minutes: Supervisor Demeules made a motion to approve the February minutes as written. Supervisor Larson seconded it and the motion carried.


OLD BUSINESS:


NEW BUSINESS:

1. Chairman Ganz made motion to hire Amy Bragelman as Clerk and Kelly McCann as Deputy. Supervisor Demeules seconded, and motion carried.


COMMENTS/QUESTIONS:

1. Business cards were made for supervisors to hand out to contractor, and residents.


Supervisor Demeules made a motion to approve claims #21041 - 21055, plus payroll, plus Connexus for a total of $19729.88. Supervisor Larson seconded it and the motion carried.


Chairman Ganz made a motion to adjourn. Supervisor Demeules seconded and motion was carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
